Two Thousand Years Book Review

Book Title: Two Thousand Years (The Empire Saga Book One)

Author: M. Dalto

Published Date: 2 December, 2018

Page Count: 368 pages

Book Synopsis:

Two thousand years ago, the Prophecy Of Fire & Light foretold the coming of the Queen Empress who would lead the empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the Empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the fractions, raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.

Centuries later, Alexandra, a twenty-two-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, it’s banished Lord Steward.

She crosses path with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive Crown Prince of the Empire, and together they discover how their lives, and their lives, are so intricately intertwined by a Prophecy set in motion so many years ago.

Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the Annals of the Empire, control the fates of her new home as war rages between the Crown Prince and Lord Steward.

Either choice could tear her world apart as she attempts to keep the Empire’s torrid history from repeating itself. In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial as her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice—or her fate—that determines how she survives the Empire’s rising conflict.

My Rating: 4/5

My Review: I can’t put down this book as soon as I started it. It’s filled with magic, betrayal, love and action. The author did an amazing job on the character development and setting.

The story follows Alex, a normal human living in Boston was suddenly taken away to another world. How crazy is that? Alex soon finds herself becoming the Empress of the Empire and stuck in between wars. What I admired the most about Alex is her unbelievably strong characteristic, even though she had been through a lot, she still managed to show her inner strength rather than weakness.

Treyan and Alex’s relationship made me swooned! Even though the couple are brought together by a Prophecy, their trust and connection are so natural and strong.

My rating: 3/5

My review: Intense and adventurous read featuring found family trope.

The plot features amazing and interesting character arc with a dark and complex medieval world building. My heart ached and broke as I learnt about the background stories of some characters. Every orphans are very loyal and willing to protect each other.

My favorite character has to be Rose, she is a strong character that has undergoes through hard times, yet she will never back down without putting up a fight. Rose and Kayo is the perfect pair for each other. Kayo might be the mighty Black Death in everyone’s eyes, but in reality he is such a softie and has a big heart (cinnamon roll character *swoon*)!

My rating:4.5/5

My review: Honestly? Every chapters of this book are so intriguing and captivating. An amazing and magical world building/setting with great characters development (plus that gorgeous cover)? Check!

Heir of Lies is a fast paced fantasy read packed with love, lies and betrayals. It’s written in multiple POVs——mostly in Emory, Adair, Brokk and Memphis point of views. I was confused and having a hard time absorbing the characters at the first few chapters as they were introduced at the same time.

Four stranger met and friendships bloomed while they trained at The Academy, a school for those with special abilities. They lived in peace for years until a horrible incident took place in The Academy that changed the life and friendship of these four characters.

Decisions were made and blood was spilled. I love seeing the character growth throughout the whole book.

My rating: 5/5

My review: This book blew my mind! Finishing reading this book is literally the same feeling as finishing an epic movie. It’s fast paced and every chapters are so intense, I just can’t put down this book!

I love how the author include a strong female lead with such an interesting background story. An female ex-pilot from World War II ? Heck yes! Captain Samantha Moxley reminds me so much of the female version of Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible movies.

After leaving a shady government agency ——The Nine, Sam found herself involved with them again as they took interest with her sister’s work. To prevent The Nine from discovering the two hidden keys which will lead to the Hall of Records, Sam worked along with Jess (her sister), Will sister’s boyfriend) and Teddy ( a professor). The group of them went through adventure after adventure from finding the keys to the entrance of the greatest archaeological find in the history.

It’s action filled with adventures, history and archaeology! Perfect read for fans of The Mummy, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones!
